Some houses in West Bay received damage on Friday, March 16 after residents reported strong winds in the area of Bristol Manor. The 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a call from a member of the public at approximately 12.30pm reporting that shingles were being torn from houses in the area. A couple of minutes later a second caller reported that the wind was also affecting the Batabano Plaza on Batabano Road. Police and fire units responded and found that a number of houses sustained damage and debris had been blown around. The exact extent of damage is not clear at this time but some homes in Scholars Drive and Simion Crescent as well as the Batabano Plaza itself appeared to have been affected. The 911 Department received only two calls in relation to the incident and no injuries have been reported. According to Government Information Services, the Weather Service is investigating the unsettled weather activity.
