Published 19th August 2007, 7:9pm

Due to the approach of Hurricane Dean and the current predictions on the severity of the storm, it has become necessary for the water supply on Grand Cayman to be temporarily interrupted. This action is necessary to preserve water and protect public health should damage occur to the water pipelines. The Water Authority and Cayman Water Company will turn off the water supply around 9PM tonight, August 19, 2007. Customers of both water utilities are urged to store water for drinking and hygienic purposes at this time if they have not already done so. Once storage is complete, all customers should TURN OFF their shut off valve. Strict adherence to these instructions by all will help to speed the restoration process once the hurricane has passed. Updates as to when water service will be restored will be made on the radio once the hurricane has passed. The Water Authority is the statutory body responsible for the management of water and wastewater in the Cayman Islands. The Administrative Headquarters is located at 13G Red Gate Road, George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
