Tropical Storm Isaac

The National Hurricane Center in Miami Florida, is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Isaac. At 4 p.m. today, Tropical Storm Isaac was located near 16.0 N. 61.2 W. or about 25 miles south southeast of Guadeloupe, in the Leeward Islands. Presently, Isaac is moving towards the west near 22 mph with maximum sustained winds near 45 mph. Storm force winds extend outwards up to 80 miles. Strengthening is forecast and Isaac is expected to become a hurricane on Thursday or Friday.

Tropical Storm Isaac has now entered the ‘monitoring area’ for the Cayman Islands; however this storm does not present an imminent threat.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF TROPICAL STORM ISAAC.  ALL RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO STAY TUNED TO THE LOCAL MEDIA FOR THE LASTEST INFORMATION AND MAINTAIN A HIGH LEVEL OF HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS.
