Hurricane Elsa Update
Published 3rd July 2021, 9:30am
Hurricane Elsa continues to move very quickly to the west-northwest at about 31 mph. Satellite imagery shows that the Hurricane is looking less organised this morning but Elsa still has maximum sustained winds of 75 mph.
The latest information from the Cayman Islands National Weather Service indicates that on the current path, tropical storm force winds are unlikely to affect the Sister Islands, however fresh to strong winds are still expected, with slightly lower wind speeds over Grand Cayman.
Heavy showers are forecast beginning on Sunday morning and this could lead to flooding across the Islands. Additionally, very rough seas will warrant the issuance of a marine warning from Saturday evening.
