Moving North West towards Central Cuba

THIS IS THE OFFICIAL PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST PREPARED BY THE CAYMAN ISLANDS NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

THROUGH THE EVENING OF JULY 05TH 2021.

SYNOPSIS:

Cloudy rainy conditions associated with Tropical Storm Elsa will continue across the Cayman area for the next 24 hours as Elsa moves along south coast of Cuba. Radar images show scattered showers in and around the Cayman area moving southwest.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami Florida is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Elsa, which at 7 p.m. was located 20.2 N and 78.7 W, about 65 miles west of Cabo Cruz Cuba, with maximum sustained winds of 60 mph. Elsa is moving towards the northwest at 15 mph.

Sister Islands remains under a Tropical Storm Watch.

Cayman Islands National Weather Service will continue to monitor the progress of this system.

FORECAST:

Tonight: Cloudy to overcast skies with numerous showers and thunder. Showers will be heavy at times leading to flooding of low lying areas. Temperatures will fall to the upper 70s F. Winds will be southeast at 10 to 15 knots this evening increasing to 15 to 20 knots from late tonight. Higher gusts is expected in and around heavy showers. Seas will be rough with wave heights of 4 to 6 feet. Small crafts should exercise caution over open waters.

Tomorrow: Cloudy to overcast skies with numerous showers and thunder. Showers will be locally heavy at times. Temperatures will rise to the mid 80s F. Winds will be southeast 20 to 25 knots. Higher gusts is expected in and around heavy showers. Seas will be rough with wave heights of 5 to 7 feet. Small crafts warning is in effect.
