TS Eta Pulling Away from Cayman
Published 7th November 2020, 1:58pm
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for the Cayman Islands as Tropical Storm Eta begins to move north of the Cayman Islands.
On the current forecast path, conditions will gradually improve for Grand Cayman through this afternoon and a gradual improvement of weather conditions are expected for the Sister Islands from approximately 7 PM this evening. The Sister Islands are currently still experiencing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.
A damage assessment is now underway, and crews from CUC and the National Roads Authority are currently working to clear roads and downed power lines, so despite improving weather conditions residents are asked to stay off road ways. In many areas, there are still flood waters which may take time to dissipate.
Rough seas will persist at least through the weekend and residents should avoid in water activity and stand well back from waves affecting coastal areas.
