Following a disaster, Cabinet may make the decision to grant import duty reductions, balancing the need to spur recovery against the effect on Government's income. After Hurricane Ivan, Cabinet allowed a 50% customs import duty reduction on building materials, furniture, fixtures, appliances, computers and office equipment. There was also a 10% import duty reduction on replacement vehicles.
