More Cases for Cayman

The Caribbean Epidemiology Centre (CAREC) in Trinidad has confirmed four additional cases of the novel H1N1 for the Cayman Islands from samples sent for final testing last week.

This brings the total number of confirmed novel H1N1 cases in the islands to 13.

"Although we are still in the early stages of this pandemic, we are relieved to note that all the local cases have produced only mild flu-like illness," stated Acting Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Anna Matthews.

The Acting Medical Officer of Health therefore advises that our Public Health message remains the same: Be vigilant with basic hygiene, and for those who are sick -- consult your doctor and stay home if advised to do so, in order to avoid spreading the flu.
